In Thailand, Lawyers must have a license and can plead in Thai Courts. For an Attorney in Thailand to become “public notary”, he/she must follow a special legal training course from the Lawyers Council in order to get their notary’s license or attestation.
The Lawyers Council of Thailand has passed the requirements governing the registration of Attorney Qualified to Certify Signatures and Documents B.E. 2546 (2003) and opened the training course of a Notarial Services Attorney for lawyers since then. The lawyers who pass such training course and obtained the license to do the function as a Notary Public in any other country.
While Mr.Dejudom Krairuek was the President of the Thai Lawyers Council, the Lawyers Association tried to set up the standard of how all Thai lawyers could certified documents for their clients and should have standards to do the documents notarization. The Regulation of Lawyers Council relating to Registration of Attorney Qualified to Certify Signatures and Documents B.E.2551 (2008) was issued and has announced in the Government Gazette in B.E. 2552. Moreover, the Thai Lawyers Council of Thailand also sent letters to over 50 countries regarding notarization in Thailand.
